Spiral Notebook

Harmony from chaos: taking visual and conceptual elements of the west coast landscape and reconstructing them to create work that reflects community, interconnectedness and joy. Interconnectedness is a concept central to human practices as diverse as environmentalism and Buddhism, and is more important than ever in our divided world.

Crows and the sacred symbol of the spiral unite this work.

The oldest symbol known to be used in spiritual practices, the spiral is fundamental to nature, appearing on animals such as snails and seashells, and occurs in natural phenomena such as whirlpools, hurricanes, tornadoes and spinning galaxies. The spiral has become a powerful symbol for creation and growth, used by many ancient cultures and religious traditions. It represents the journey as life unfolds. Spirals have been linked to nature, the seasons, and the path of life: birth, growth, death and reincarnation.
